Avantis Estate

A Family Wine-Making Tradition That Thrives

The story of Avantis Estate begins with Apostolos, the first winemaker of the Moudrikas family. In the mid-20th century, in Mytikas, Evia, he would load his donkey with baskets full of grapes, stomp them in the press next to his home, and ferment the wine in cement tanks beneath the kitchen, selling it in bulk at the Volos market. Apostolos’ father, Nikos Moudrikas, continued to actively support this family tradition, passing on his love for viticulture to his son.

ApostolosMoudrikas, after studying Economics at the University of Athens Law School, discovered his passion for wine during a trip to the Bordeaux wine region. After completing his studies in Oenology, he founded Avantis Estate in 2000 and became known in wine circles as the “Syrah Master.” His vision for winemaking includes the introduction of high-quality varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and the revival of the local Mavrokountoura variety, significantly contributing to the viticultural development of Evia.

His wife, LengaGrigoriadou, plays a key role in the estate’s marketing and communications. In 2009, she innovated by creating the Lenga cosmetic line, utilizing the antioxidant properties of the estate’s grapes. Today, Avantis Estate embodies a strong family legacy that continues to innovate and evolve.
