At that time, Dimitris Vassilakis was already working on new material for his project “Daedalus Project-Persephone” (C) ASCAP 2021, a sequel to “Daedalus Project – Labyrinth”, an award-winning album for Candid Records. The renowned jazz musician played it live with the Espen Berg Trio for a full crowd at the Rhodes & South Aegean International Jazz Festival in 2021, inside the medieval Castle of the Knights in the Greek island of Rhodes. An important figure in the Greek jazz scene and an internationally acclaimed saxophonist, Dimitri Vassilakis has crossed the line into the free jazz arena, offering swirling free-form improvisations and outpouring spiritual emotion. The great tenor and soprano sax player is also a vocalist, composer, and educator with four award-winning albums via the legendary jazz label Candid Records, President of Jazz Democracy NPO, as well as founder and Director of Rhodes & South Aegean International Jazz Festival.
