Taken from the award-winning “Labyrinth – Daedalus Project” album on Candid Records, the world premiere event took place at the Athens Concert Hall Megaron in 2022, with Shimon Robot and Athens Quartet. Shimon Robot improvised, exchanged 4’s and interacted with sax and keys, with its sounds coming through midi and composed in real-time. Feedback is based on Jazz Mapping Research by Dimitris Vassilakis at the Athens University and Democritus Research center, plus novel algorithms and robotics developed by Gil Weinberg and the team at Georgia Tech Atlanta. Dimitris Vassilakis
An important figure in the Greek jazz scene and an internationally acclaimed saxophonist, Dimitri Vassilakis has crossed the line into the free jazz arena, offering swirling free-form improvisations and outpouring spiritual emotion. The great tenor and soprano sax player is also a vocalist, composer, and educator with four award-winning albums via the legendary jazz label Candid Records, President of Jazz Democracy NPO, as well as founder and Director of Rhodes & South Aegean International Jazz Festival.
