Gr2me believes in the strong potential and richness of modern Greek cinema and will award new directors who constitute its future. To support them and their creative projects with a focus on documentary film, Gr2me has launched an annual Gr2me Award. This award will be given at participating Greek film festivals to directors of documentary shorts showcased at these events. The winner will also have the chance to create a short documentary for Gr2me, with the platform covering the financing, production and international promotion through the website’s social media.
In 2024, Gr2me gave out three Special Prizes for short documentary films. The first prize was awarded at the Psarokokalo International Short Film Festival in July 2024 to “Light of Light,” directed by Neritan Zinxhiria. The second prize was presented at the Kymata International Film Festival in August 2024 for the film “When I Die, Let the Universe Burn,” directed by Evripidis Karydis. The third prize was awarded at the Chania Film Festival in October 2024 to “Stavroula”, directed by Ira Dika.
