KREON KRIONAS, CHRISTOS BOURANTAS

Kreon Krionas is a self-taught animator/designer with a creative background in short graphic stories, software programming and synth music. His has a passion for art and digital technologies and in the recent years he has been experimenting with animation techniques that combine rotoscoping, CGI and traditional animation.

Christos Bourantas is an architect, animator and digital artist. He has a passion for telling stories and conceiving new worlds.

His body of work consists primarily (but not strictly) of digital creations that follow a cross-media, narrative-driven approach. In his projects he tries to combine aesthetic and functional elements from 3D design, graphic arts, cinema, technology and research in New Media.

A young girl drifts through the dark, empty city on a lonely journey. Fragments of her past unfold the story of an unusual phenomenon to which her life is bound: a worldwide jellyfish outbreak.

The concept was conceived in 2010, drawing inspiration from a news article regarding the overgrowth of jellyfish population in the Mediterranean, which became the core narrative, while the dystopian vision of the city of Athens provided the essential background. Within almost five years of production, we had the chance to employ various techniques (2D, 3D animation, rotoscoping, etc.) and narrative forms.
