Monsieur Minimal
The lush vintage pop persona of Monsieur Minimal is the moniker of Christos Tsitroudis, an indie-pop musician and producer from Greece. His musical style could easily come from any era, blending synth pop, ambient, psychedelic and soul into immersive music that creates a world of its own. His colorful slices of 60s and 70s nostalgia come across like Serge Gainsbourg jamming with the Carpenters and M83.
He debuted in 2008 with “Lollipop”, followed by numerous live performances in Greece and abroad and impeccably produced albums. Just to name a few, his 2017 album, “Erotica”, released via Mo.Mi.Records, featured prominent figures of the local scene and most notably the 70s pop singer Dakis, followed by his 2020 album, “Easteria”, influenced by the blues, soul, folk and modern psychedelic music. 2024 marks the release of his seventh studio album, the exciting “Seven {From East to West)”, where he incorporates melodies literally from the east and west, with a mix of lavish instrumentation – including bass, trumpets, violin, guitars and vintage-style synths and effects – that create shimmering melodies that shift from wistful to modern.
Monsieur Minimal has a knack for making unfashionable sounds fresh again, holding everything together with wide-eyed enthusiasm. His music is warm and elegant, a reminder that his passion for pop culture doesn’t just start and end somewhere. It feels like a radiant sonic rainbow, calling for the listener to jump on it and have fun!
