Tentura Liqueur

Spiced Elegance from Patras

Tentura is a traditional cinnamon-based liqueur from Patras. It has been produced since the 15th century and is known for its rich aroma and warm, spiced flavor. The main ingredients are cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and citrus peels (usually from Elis oranges). These spices are infused in alcohol, typically grape-based distillates like brandy or tsipouro. Sugar or honey is added for sweetness, creating a balanced profile.

The spices and citrus peels are macerated in alcohol for several weeks, allowing their essential oils to infuse fully. After maceration, the mixture is filtered and sometimes lightly aged before bottling. Tentura has a sweet, warming taste with strong cinnamon notes, complemented by hints of clove and citrus. It is served as a digestif, in cocktails, or over ice cream, making it a versatile and flavorful Greek liqueur.

In Patras and beyond, Tentura remains a symbol of local tradition and craftsmanship. Its deep amber color and fragrant bouquet make it a standout among Greek spirits. Whether sipped slowly after a meal or used creatively in mixology, Tentura offers a uniquely aromatic experience rooted in centuries of heritage.
