NICOLAS KOLOVOS
Nicolos Kolovos (b. 1973) is a film director, scriptwriter and playwright. He has written and directed numerous short films which have been featured at several international film festivals and won many awards. In April 2016 he was awarded the Iris, the most prestigious film award of Greece, by the Greek Film Academy for his short film Fig. He has also directed television dramas and documentaries for
SVT (Sweden’s public Television). Nicolas Kolovos also works as a playwright and has written plays for Riksteatern (National Touring Theatre/National Theatre Company in Sweden), Angereds teater (non-government sponsored theater) and Sveriges Radio Drama (Sweden’s national radio broadcaster). His films and plays often use dark humour to show people at risk, and treats subjects such as identity and alienation.
Eleni asks for a fig on her deathbed. Her husband, Kostas goes to the nearest tree to get one, but falls down and breaks his foot. Time is short, and Kostas is old. With one fig in his hand he struggles through the harsh nature to get home in time to fulfill his wife’s last wish
