Aradena’s bridge is one of the many hidden gems of Crete. It is situated in the Sfakia area, an impressive, rugged, isolated place, famous for its indomitable people. The bridge is nestled between the mass of Lefka Ori (White Mountains) and the Libyan sea and it offers spectacular views to the canyon of the same name.
But the stunning panorama is not the only reason why travelers visit this area.
In 1999, a group of friends already experienced in the extreme sports sector, spotted the place and decided to set up a bungy jumping station.
Soon Aradena gained notoriety among bungy jumping lovers all over the world. The bridge stands 138 meters above the bottom of the gorge, which makes it the second highest bridge for bungy in Europe. But this is not the only highlight of this amazing site. Due to an optical illusion, from the jumping point the canyon seems to be very narrow, not more than a few meters. Of course this provides an one-of-a-kind adrenaline rush at no risk.
Bungy jumping from Aradena bridge is a life-time experience, but it’s not for everyone. Even experienced jumpers admit that as soon as you set your foot on the bridge it’s impossible not to have second thoughts. The good news is that, there is no need for special skills, just the strength to overcome the fear and… jump!
