Greek film “Animal” competes for 2025 LUX Audience Award Vote online!

April 2025

There may not be any Greek Film Festivals this April, but a very important vote is underway for the prestigious LUX Audience Award, organized by the European Parliament and the European Film Academy.

Five great films have been shortlisted for the 2025 LUX Audience Award and one of them is the multi-awarded Greek film “Animal”, directed by Sofia Exarchou.

The film whose main character is Kalia, head of a team of animateurs who work seasonally at an all-inclusive hotel in Greece, has collected at least 23 awards so far in Greek and International Film Festivals, including the Golden Alexander 2023 in the International Competition at the Thessaloniki Film Festival, the Hellenic Film Academy Award for Best Film 2024, the Orpheus Award for Best Feature Film 2024 at the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival.

The four outstanding films that accompany “Animal” to complete the top five are “Dahomey”, “Flow”, “Intercepted” and “Julie Keeps Quiet”.

As both the vote of the public and the Members of the European Parliament count equally, we strongly encourage you to watch and rate online the films on https://luxaward-rating.europarl.europa.eu/en/ by 27 April 2025.

Ratings can be changed an unlimited number of times until the voting closes. The last vote counts!
