Tinos Artichoke Festival

Honoring Local Flavors in the Village of Komi

Every early June, the village of Komi on the island of Tinos comes alive for the annual Artichoke Festival — a lively event dedicated to the beloved local crop. In 2025, the celebration is set for Saturday, June 7, offering locals and visitors alike a flavorful immersion into the island’s rich culinary heritage.

The heart of the festival lies in the artichoke itself — a vegetable that has long played a vital role in the agriculture and kitchens of Tinos. Traditional and inventive dishes are served throughout the day, all starring the versatile artichoke in ways that highlight its unique flavor and texture.

Renowned chefs, including Tinos native Marinos Souroupas, often participate, sharing creative recipes and modern techniques that celebrate the ingredient’s potential. The festival also educates visitors on the difference between wild and cultivated artichokes — the former more rustic and bitter, the latter larger, softer, and more commonly used in everyday cooking.

More than just a food fair, the Artichoke Festival is a celebration of community, tradition, and the land itself — a perfect excuse to explore Komi and enjoy authentic Cycladic hospitality.
