The Eleftheriou Family’s Flavorful Journey

By Katerina Zotali

The Eleftheriou family has a proud history of nearly a century focused on making high-quality, handcrafted products. Their story began when they fled from Axos, Cappadocia, bringing with them cherished memories and a deep love for their craft. This passion has grown into a wide range of unique products that have gained recognition throughout Greece.

At the center of their offerings is the Mastiha Halva Eleftheriou, a standout item made using the traditional “mastihato” kneading method. This technique gives the halva its unique texture and flavor, turning it into more than just a sweet treat—it’s a symbol of the family’s heritage and dedication to quality. Each piece is made in limited quantities and under strict controls, showcasing the family’s commitment to authenticity.

Alongside their signature halva, the Eleftheriou family has creatively expanded their product line, combining tradition with modern tastes. Their offerings now include handcrafted tahini chocolates, halva bars, and tahini spreads in various flavors, as well as the popular carob-flavored Rahat. Each product is a family effort, crafted with care and respect for both consumers and the time-honored traditions passed down through generations.

Now located at the 14th kilometer of Drama-Kavala, the third generation of the Eleftheriou family continues to uphold the high standards set by their ancestors, ensuring that every product remains a testament to their rich heritage and commitment to quality.
