 A Family Legacy of Snail Production and Innovation

For over 50 years, Escarcom, a company founded by the Kotzavasiloglou family, has been a leader in the snail industry, with almost its entire production exported abroad. Based in Skydra, Pella, Escarcom operates a fully integrated facility, managing every step of the snail production process, from collection to retail. The company processes wild snails from across Greece, the Balkans, and the Baltic region, handling three Helix species: Pomatia, Lucorum, and Aspersa Muller.

Escarcom was the first processing plant of its kind outside of France, created to supply the French market. The company’s flagship products include frozen snails with butter, garlic, and herbs (Burgundy snails) and snail fillets in cans.

While exporting primarily to Central and Western Europe, Escarcom has also been active in the Greek market for the past 30 years, supplying retailers such as Thanopoulos and Gogakis, and small gourmet shops. Beyond snails, the company also engages in B2B trade in frozen fruits, including cherries from Pella, apricots from Corinth and Pella, and peaches from Pella and Imathia, catering to the confectionery and dairy industries.
