From May 26 to June 1, 2025, the Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens becomes the beating heart of international jazz, hosting the 24th Athens Jazz Festival. With free admission and a bold, eclectic program, this year’s edition is dedicated to Giorgos Charonitis, the influential music writer and long-time supporter of the festival.
Twenty-one bands from nineteen countries will transform Technopolis into a global stage, presenting a week-long celebration of jazz in all its thrilling diversity—funk, afrobeat, electronica, punk, psychedelic sounds, and more.
The festival opens on Monday with a strong Greek presence: the Yiorgos Bereris Trio blending Nordic jazz, Cuban son, and Balkan traditions; Modified Dog fusing jazz with post-rock; and Valia Calda weaving Epirus melodies with DIY punk and psychedelic improvisation.
International acts take over from Tuesday: Norway’s Phønix merges jazz with krautrock, while Switzerland’s Mohs bridges electronic and acoustic realms. The Czech Republic’s nine-piece Toot Ensemble brings unstoppable energy.
Wednesday features Estonian free-form trio Karja/Renard/Wandinger, Hungary’s melodic New Fossils, and Turkey’s AYYUKA with their infectious psychedelic grooves. Thursday makes history with Argentina’s Ravasi brothers, Austria’s Purple is the Color, and a headline performance by jazz legend Enrico Rava and his “Fearless Five”.
The weekend continues with acts like Luxembourg’s Tele-Port, France’s gritty Concombre, Sweden’s Svante Söderqvist Trio, and Poland’s genre-defying EABS. Saturday wraps with Denmark’s explosive Smag På Dig Selv. The final day on Sunday closes the festival with Scotland’s Norman & Corrie, Spain’s Moisés P. Sánchez, and the UK’s cinematic Kessoncoda.
Once again, Athens Jazz showcases jazz as a boundless, living art form—and invites the world to experience it in the heart of the city.
