Giannis Aggelakas and Christos Papadopoulos unite their artistic forces in Nekyia, an innovative performance that breathes new life into Homer’s epic descent into the Underworld. From February 13–16, the Thessaloniki Concert Hall will transform into a realm of shadowy depth, where music, dance, and narration intertwine to reimagine one of mythology’s most haunting chapters.
Aggelakas’ evocative compositions, blending ethereal melodies with raw, visceral sounds, capture the emotional intensity of Odysseus’ journey through the afterlife. Papadopoulos’ choreography complements the narrative, crafting an otherworldly atmosphere with precise, hypnotic movements that echo the liminality of Homer’s Underworld.
Nekyia is more than a retelling; it’s a sensory exploration of loss, memory, and transcendence, inviting modern audiences to reflect on timeless human experiences. This groundbreaking production transforms ancient myth into a profound, multisensory dialogue between past and present.
